This policy describes information used to provide Joonam's dating and community features. Contact support@joonam.app with privacy questions or requests.
Information you provide
We process account sign-in information, your birth date, profile details and answers, self-reported heritage eligibility, photos, preferences, messages, and information you submit in reports or support requests. Some answers may describe sensitive personal characteristics. Share only what you are comfortable providing and review the visibility of each field in the app.
Information used by the service
We process approximate discovery location where you choose to use location features, app activity such as likes and matches, device notification tokens, purchase entitlement information, and diagnostic or operational information. Device permissions control access to features such as photos, location, and notifications.
How information is used
We use this information to create and review profiles, show eligible people, support matches and conversations, deliver notifications, manage purchases, address reports, prevent abuse, and maintain the service. Heritage eligibility is self-reported. We do not determine it from someone's appearance, name, or language ability.
Who can see information
Profile information is shown to eligible signed-in members according to app settings and safety controls. Your private account email is not a public profile field. Conversation participants can see the content you send them. Authorized staff can access information needed for support, safety, and moderation.
Service providers
Infrastructure and sign-in services may be provided through Google/Firebase, app delivery and notifications through Expo and platform providers, purchase management through RevenueCat, diagnostic services through Sentry, and email delivery through our configured email provider. Apple and Google process purchases made through their stores under their own policies. Providers process information needed for their service functions.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, manage permissions and notifications, block members, and request account deletion. Contact support from your registered account email to ask about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests. We may need to confirm that a request relates to your account.
Retention and deletion
We retain information while it is needed to operate your account and for legitimate support, safety, transaction, and compliance purposes. Account deletion starts removal of account and profile data. Limited records may remain where needed for safety, fraud prevention, transaction administration, or applicable obligations.
International processing and security
Joonam serves a diaspora community, and service providers may process data in countries other than your own. We use access controls and other safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security. Do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for a connection.
Children and updates
Joonam is not for anyone under 18. Report an underage account through the app or support. We may update this policy as the service changes and will publish the current version here.
